Sports Is A Universal Language

For Mili, a junior at Great Valley High School, serving her community has always been second nature. Whether through clubs like Best Buddies or volunteering at local events, she has found joy in supporting others and building meaningful connections. Her kindhearted nature shines both on and off the volleyball court, where she plays on the varsity team.

Mili’s journey with Sow Good Now began when she saw her classmate, Yousif Albazaz, lead a GiveBack for his football team. Inspired by the way he combined sports with service, she realized she could do the same through volleyball. This moment opened the door to a new way of giving back — one that wove together her love for athletics and her commitment to community.

Her own story fuels her passion for making sports more inclusive. When Mili moved from Brazil for her father’s work, she didn’t speak English fluently and often felt the challenges of being in a new place. Over time, she discovered that sports could be a universal language — a way to connect, belong, and grow. Today, as someone fluent in both English and Spanish, she sees her bilingualism as a superpower and embraces opportunities to use it to make others feel welcome.

Now, as she prepares to lead her own volleyball GiveBack, Mili is especially excited to serve the Saint Agnes youth, many of whom are Spanish-speaking. By bridging cultures and creating space for every child to feel included, she is showing that sports are more than just a game — they are a way to build community, celebrate diversity, and give back.
