Maddie is a ninth-grade gymnast at Synergy Gymnastics in Malvern, PA. Gymnastics has been a huge part of her life—it’s taught her strength, confidence, and perseverance. Now, she’s decided to use the sport she loves to uplift young girls who may not have had the same opportunities.
Some people simply find joy in helping others. Ben Mayer is one of those people. A rising junior at Garnet Valley High School, he was drawn to Sow Good Now’s mission of connecting volunteer athletes with youth in underserved communities through skill sharing and equipment drives. Thanks to an introduction from a neighbor, Ben’s search for a meaningful way to give back to his community beyond typical school clubs ended when he began volunteering at Sow Good Now in January.
Meet David and Ryan Locher, brothers who play for PBT baseball. Like many of their teammates, they spend hours every week training and preparing for their next big game. But this year, something shifted. David and Ryan decided to take a leadership role in this year's GiveBack with PBT and Sunrise of Philadelphia. Our GiveBacks are a unique mentorship initiative designed to empower young athletes from underserved communities by pairing them with high school and college athletes who share their passion for sports.
Bella's journey with Sow Good Now began when she participated in our annual Malvern Swim Association GiveBack. During this event, she helped coach kids from Chester in the basics of swimming, making a meaningful impact in their lives.
A year later, Bella started playing volleyball at her middle school and was reconnected with Mary, who had become her new volleyball coach. As they caught up, Bella learned more about Sow Good Now and felt inspired to get further involved.
Yousif is a rising junior and student-athlete at Great Valley High School with a deep passion for football that has only grown since entering high school. After playing for several years, he's now ready to give back and share his love for the game with those around him.
For Mili, a junior at Great Valley High School, serving her community has always been second nature. Whether through clubs like Best Buddies or volunteering at local events, she has found joy in supporting others and building meaningful connections. Her kindhearted nature shines both on and off the volleyball court, where she plays on the varsity team.
In 2019, Emily found herself at the intersection of two passions that had always driven her: sports and service. Through Sow Good Now, she launched a softball clinic in partnership with the Jefferson University Softball team. What started as a simple idea—to share the game she loved with the next generation—quickly grew into something much deeper.
